Japanese Tea

Japanese tea can be traced back to 9th century Buddhist monks, who referenced the importing of teas from China. These early seeds were brought back to Japan by priests in 805/806AD and cultivated locally. The tea culture in Japan as we know it really began in the 12th and 13th centuries, with the modern tea ceremony having been developed over generations.
