What is Rooibos Tea?
During your explorations in the world of tea, you may have come across Rooibos and perhaps aren’t entirely sure what this unique, caffeine-free and flavoursome tea is, nor where it comes from.
It is perhaps not surprising if you have not come across Rooibos until recently – Rooibos is sourced from the Aspalathus linearis, a plant that is indigenous to South Africa’s Cederberg Mountains, located north of Cape Town.
Known for its distinct and earthy taste, sweet, fruity notes and unique aroma,
Rooibos offers characteristic warm, woody, slightly herbal flavours when prepared as a hot drink, with a full-bodied finish and a low tannin level.
